RAINIER AVENUE RADIO

In Spring 2018, ORA was engaged by Rainier Avenue Radio to evaluate the feasibility of transforming underused space at The Royal Esquire Club to create a permanent home for Rainier Avenue Radio in the heart of Columbia City. Rainier Avenue Radio is a community-based radio station serving diverse audiences in Rainier Valley and throughout the world. ORA worked closely with Rainier Avenue Radio, the Royal Esquire Club, and Seattle Department of Neighborhoods to conduct a comprehensive facility assessment, confirm program needs, develop alternative concept studies, and actively engage the community to create a shared project vision. The station will include a vibrant new community gathering space, broadcast facilities, and flexible education spaces for youth engagement. Funded through a Seattle Department of Neighborhoods grant, the feasibility study included active public outreach, with two live-broadcast community meetings which generated strong public support for the project.
