Seattle Art Museum’s new urban sculpture park transforms a former industrial site into an open green space for art, reconnecting the city to the water through a dynamic sequence of folded landforms. As consulting site architect to park lead designer Weiss Manfredi and lead architect for the art projects, ORA provided architectural site representation and led the design, documentation and permitting for over 20 art installations and infrastructure projects, including the Mark Dion Seattle Vivarium, the Louise Bourgeois Father and Son Fountain, and Richard Serra’s Wake. The project includes extensive sustainable design features, ranging from brownfield site restoration to the use of rainwater catchment systems and natural ventilation in the Dion Vivarium.
